Lobby Share (L: Drive)

The Lobby share (L: drive) contains folders and files for courses and student project folders. When you log into the virtual lab, the Lobby share is mapped to the L: drive

How to Access The File Server - Windows 10

  1. If you are off campus, connect to theVPN.
  2. ClickStart. In the Search field, type:nas.heinz.local.cmu.edulobby
  3. Press theEnterkey.
  4. TheWindows Securitywindow appears. Type:
    Username: andrewyour Andrew username

  5. Password: [your Andrew password]
    Click theOKbutton.
  6. A window will appear with a list of folders you have access to.
    Students: Master students personal file storage. Master students have 10GB or storage space.
    Lobby: Contains academic and student project files.

    smb://andrew;edwardm@nas.heinz.local.cmu.edu/lobby
  4. Click the+button to add the server to your favorites list. Click theConnectbutton.
  5. Theloginwindow appears.
    Connect as: Registered User
    Name: [your Andrew username]
    Password: [your Andrew password]
    Click theConnectbutton
  6. Students: Master students personal file storage. Master students have 10GB of storage space.
    Lobby: Contains academic and student project files.

VPN

If you are not on the campus network, you will need to connect to the VPNbeforeyou can access some computing resources like the Heinz-bolt file server. Download and install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client from the main campus computing website: https://www.cmu.edu/computing/services/endpoint/network-access/vpn/

Tentative Schedule

The schedule is also available as an ical file that you can subscribe to.

Lectures and projects can only be accessed by clients with a CMU IP address. CMU students who are off campus can use Cisco AnyConnect VPN to obtain a CMU IP. Most readings require that you have access to ACM or IEEE's digital library. You will automatically have access if you are using a client with a CMU IP.
