With over 500,000 installs, Polylang is the most popular multilingual plugin available on the WordPress directory. You write your posts, pages and create categories and post tags as usual, and assign a language to each of them. The translation, whether it is in the default language or not, is optional. You can use as many languages as you want. Thank’s but I had effectively replaced the text of the button with the French translation but today, I must also be able to display the English version because my site is translated into two languages with the Polylang plugin. And in Polylang, I can’t find the translation string for this button. Polylang is an extension to make multilingual WordPress websites. You write posts, pages and create categories and post tags as usual, define the language for each of them, optionally translate them and Polylang does everything else. The plugin does not integrate automatic or professional translation. Polylang is the most popular multilingual plugin available on the WordPress repository. Polylang allows you to create a bilingual or multilingual WordPress site. You write posts, pages and create categories and post tags as usual, and then define the language for each of them. The translation of a post, whether it is in the default language or not, is optional.

• You can use as many languages as you want. RTL language scripts are supported. WordPress languages packs are automatically downloaded and updated.
• You can translate posts, pages, media, categories, post tags, menus, widgets…
• Custom post types, custom taxonomies, sticky posts and post formats, RSS feeds and all default WordPress widgets are supported.
• The language is either set by the content or by the language code in url, or you can use one different subdomain or domain per language
• Categories, post tags as well as some other metas are automatically copied when adding a new post or page translation

Instalasi

1. Make sure you are using WordPress 5.1 or later and that your server is running PHP 5.6 or later (same requirement as WordPress itself)
2. If you tried other multilingual plugins, deactivate them before activating Polylang, otherwise, you may get unexpected results!
3. Install and activate the plugin as usual from the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
4. Go to the languages settings page and create the languages you need
5. Add the ‘language switcher’ widget to let your visitors switch the language.
6. Take care that your theme must come with the corresponding .mo files (Polylang automatically downloads them when they are available for themes and plugins in this repository). If your theme is not internationalized yet, please refer to the Theme Handbook or ask the theme author to internationalize it.

How to create a multilingual WordPress website using Polylang

We just introduced you to two excellent WordPress multilingual plugins – now it’s time to teach you how to put them to use. Since both tools are so similar when it comes to their functionalities, we decided to stick with Polylang for this tutorial.

Polylang enables us to take several routes to set up a multilingual WordPress website. You can go manual, choose automatic translations, or hire professionals through the plugin. This time, we’ll explore the manual end of things. Let’s start by installing the plugin, then heading into Settings > Languages within the dashboard:

Select the Choose a language option above and pick the language you want to add to your website. The rest of the corresponding fields will fill out automatically once you select one. Now click on Add new language and your choice will appear under your default language on the table to the right of the screen:

Go to one of your posts and open the editor, we need to enter it to add a new translation. You’ll find a new Languages widget at the right of the WordPress editor. The drop-down list inside enables you to switch between languages:

Clicking on the + sign next to the flag of the language you just added will send you to a ‘new’ post, which is where we need to enter your manual translation:
